Suncast Storage Shed Review

First off - keep in mind this is a [more or less] tool-less snap together shed. This is NOT a nice sturdy metal shed with a cement foundation. If you are expecting that level of storage shed then don't even both with the Suncast product.
Now the review:
Pros:
1. Pricing
2. Ease of assembly
3. Reputable companies (Sears, Suncast, Lowes, etc)
4. Instructions were easy to follow
5. If you're fairly strong person you can absolutely assemble this alone (I did.)
Cons:
1. Pieces do not fit absolutely 100% tight. These are pre-formed pieces that may be a hair off in places.
2. If you're not a strong person you will not be able to assemble this yourself (2 people.)
I have had experience with Suncast products in the past and have been satisfied. So, I needed a little bit of extra shed space on the side of the house. I looked around and found the Suncast sheds.
So, I went ahead and ordered the GS9000 5x7 shed.
First impression:
The boxes were HUGE. Yes, I said boxes. This comes in 2 large boxes (same size) and require a truck to pick up or for the boxes to be delivered. The boxes weren't not super heavy - just cumbersome in size.
The boxes were clearly marked as to what was in each box so you would know which to open first.
First thing I did was to pull the instructions out and read through them. Then, I sorted out the parts to make sure I had everything.
First thing to install is the floor deck. Now, here is something you will not know until you get home and open the instructions. The floor is a fairly sturdy deck that will be perfect if placed on concrete (porch, etc.) If not, there is an option in the construction to slide 5 2x4's into slots under the flooring. The deck then has holes to screw the deck down to the 2x4's giving the deck extra support. Since I was putting mine in the yard I decided to use pressure treated 2x4's. The difference is noticeable (in the yard) if you're not using the 2x4's. Adding the 2x4's adds about 1 hour to the assembly. The 2x4's have to be cut to a specific length (outlined in the instructions) and then anchored to the ground with 4 12" galvanized nails (all in the instructions.) The extra materials (which you have to buy separately) cost about $10 at the local hardware store. I cut the 2x4's myself but most lumber places will cut it if you request it.

One thing I have read in the reviews is about the roof.Putting the 2 roof pieces together were the hardest thing for me because they are the 2 biggest and heaviest pieces.Once I managed to get the roof put together I was able to lift it up alone and rest it on the walls.Then I went around and slowly snapped everything into place.The roof assembled probably weighs about 50lbs but is easy to balance.The roof part is the place where having a 2nd person would have been the most beneficial.

Overall time to get the shed up was about 2.5 hours. This time included getting the boxes off my truck, unpacked, inventoried and assembled. I did this alone with no help. If you have 2 people it might take 30 minutes off your assembly time. If you skip the reinforcing of the floor deck take another 45 minutes off your time.
My only regret at this point is not getting the 7x7 shed because the 7x5 wasn't as big as I had hoped!

Oxo Good Grips POP Small Square 1-1/2-Quart Storage Container Review

Pantries are such a great idea, but until now I have never succeeded in maintaining order. But completely clear containers that come in useful sizes -- this size, in particular -- and have square corners have helped ME turn the corner so that the pantry finally works well for us.

These are lighter by far than glass, which makes them easier to use (and less worrying, honestly, because I've dropped glass containers). But they share glass's virtue of transparency. The salvaged plastic tubs or "Glad"-type containers are not transparent, and labeling them simply doesn't work as well as being able to glance at the container to see what and how much is in it. And containers with square corners line up neatly and pretty much stay that way.

The order in the pantry is great, but beyond the pantry it is easier to organize a menu or shopping list because for the first time I have a much better idea of what doesn't need to be picked up at the store. There is a grocery cost saving; space is also saved because the pantry no longer has to hold duplicates, triplicates, and more of an item like corn meal that couldn't be found at first.

An organized pantry is something that has never before survived more than a few weeks at our house. These containers have achieved what had never before been possible: a small enough accomplishment, of course, but one that makes life easier.

Plano Molding 9618 Heavy Duty Interlocking Shelving Review

Purchased this shelving system for all of my husband's many tools. It is a solid system and can hold a good amount of moderately heavy items such as drills and hand saws. Suncast Patio Bench, Mini Review

This is the third item in the Suncast line that I own. I like the simple design and while it's not air tight (and you wouldn't want it to be), it does allow water to roll off while stored items inside remain dry. I bought this as an accent piece for my small front porch. This was so easy to put together - literally a SNAP. Remember to read the instructions completely BEFORE assembly to avoid some frustrating mistakes I've seen here. I like things that do double-duty and this is the perfect fit, that's why I give it 5 stars.

Rubbermaid Premier Food Storage Containers Review

I was a Tupperware bride thirty some years ago and have tried every brand known to a refrigerator. When I discovered Rubbermaid Premier last Christmas, I was hooked. Suncast DB2900 Balcony Box Review

I purchased this balcony box because the deck boxes I got last year are terrific. I now have 3 deck boxes 1 trash can and this new addition is great because I can put a lock on top. Arrow GS83, Garden Shed 8'x3' Outdoor Storage Shed (GS83) Category: Arrow Sheds Review

I almost gave it 3 stars due too the fact that once I unpacked it I founddents on two corner pieces, which I wasn't about to repack and send back at that point.Other than that the only other things were the instructions were vague, the time it took to put it together, I did most of it by myself (if it had been a windy day though I would have needed another pair of hands), but needed some help from my wife when it came time to attach the the hardware inside and tighten all the screws on the wall panels, and some of the holes did not match up, as well as some screws I had to replace with larger ones from my own tool box to make it work, no biggie though.I still need to put in the plywood floor and anchor it to the concrete pad I have it on, the shed is butted up to the side of the house, which if I had followed the instuctions I would have anchored the floor frame to the concrete, then attached the plywood floor, and then I would have been screwed trying to attached the rest of the roof, wall panels, and other parts since I would not be able to reach anything since it would have been butted up agaisnt the house.
Other than that it's a pretty sturdy little shed, I only wish they had made it a bit taller, at least 72" in height.As for the price and paying for shipping it was still cheaper through Amazon, than any other place I looked at.I would recommend this product, as long as you expect it will take a little work to put together.

Oxo Good Grips POP Rectangle 2-1/2-Quart Storage Container Review

I recently bought over a dozen of these Oxo containers in various sizes, and am so far quite pleased with them.Only two minor negatives:
* one unit arrived cracked (Amazon quickly and painlessly replaced it).
* And the volume of the small units is a bit deceptive.They hold less than you might think from the photographs because the top extends down into the canister more than you might guess.Once I realized this, I simply opted for slightly taller ones.

Several positives:
* they're clear, so you can see what's in them.Obvious enough, but a significant improvement over my older canisters.No need for labels.
* they seal and unseal well and effortlessly with one hand.
* the seal is tight enough to keep out bugs (unlike the ones I was using and my driving motivation to buy these).
* they come in enough sizes such that I can accommodate all of my staples with the right size canister.
* they're stackable, which makes combining sizes even easier if you stick with one or two footprints, making efficient use of pantry shelf space.

I'll be buying more as the need arises.

Rubbermaid Lock-its Square Container Review

I recently started a new internship and needed a more "grown-up" style of container to bring lunch in (read as: re-using the containers from the Chinese place's egg drop soup was no longer cutting it).My regular job is as a nanny for a wealthy couple in western Mass.The mom had TONS of these type containers from another company (Lock&Lock, maybe?).Figuring she's so organized and has the most awesome collection of kitchen ware I've ever seen, I set out to find some for myself.Couldn't find them for cheap, so I tried this one.

Not sure if they sell the combo I bought on Amazon, but I found a 12 piece collection for ten dollars at the local horrible monster store that starts with a "W."

I am very happy with them thus far.I was in search of a container that could hold a 16 oz. can of soup.I had wanted a rounder bowl shape, but actually, this design makes more sense for the space it takes in the fridge, and for how it packs up in my work tote.

I'm still nervous about keeping it in my bag with my work papers, so I've placed it inside a gallon freezer bag for extra protection, but for the past 12 times I've used it, it hasn't leaked one drop into the bag.Very pleased!

For cabinet storage, the lids snap upside down to the base of the containers.You can also snap the same size lids together, throw those on the bottom, and nest the others.The whole set like this, only takes up the space of about ten inches tall and wide.Very nice!

So, aside from the red color which I'm not crazy about, it's been a great purchase, and, if I do say so, a better choice than that of the doctor I work for!:)Score 1 for those living hand to mouth!

I was disappointed in how flimsy this shed really is.Despite the excellent assembly instructions It was very difficult to hold together while I was trying to assemble it. The floor is not rigid and the sides move easily, I had to buy racks for the inside because you can't lean anything against the sides.I have this shed under my deck so it's in a protected area.I wouldn't think of putting it out in the weather where strong winds would no doubt topple it.I would not purchase this product again.
