Oxo Good Grips POP Small Square 9/10-Quart Storage Container Review

Of all the storage challenges, for me the pantry has always been most exasperating. Even if clothes and linens come in different sizes, THEY FOLD FLAT! Try that trick with a cardboard canister of oat meal, a brick-hard box of brown sugar, and a half-full cereal box. Durn things not only will not fold, they will not even play nicely together on the same shelf.

What do I mean by "play nicely together"? Simple. Everything stays on its own footprint and never gets lost behind taller items. Never happened, at least never for more than a few excessively organization-focused weeks, prior to my discovery of these containers.

What's different now is that these clear containers with their square corners stay in their assigned spaces. If one is called out to the counter, the others do not fall over or slide into the empty "parking space". And even in the rather deep shelves of our pantry, because the containers are clear it is easy to check out quickly what is needed and, as importantly, what is not needed.

In addition, the square cornered design is easier for me to grip than round, slippery glass jars. These are lighter than glass, too, even with the "pop top" and special gasket (which work very well).

Although I am clearly enthusiastic about this whole line of containers, they are expensive compared to simply using the container in which the foodstuff is sold or re-purposing jars or plastic tubs. My strong suggestion would by trying one or two to get a sense of whether these willwork for you. It's also worth trying one or two different sizes in order to get an idea of what fits for what you keep in your pantry. My mileage has varied considerably from the "fits" proposed in the product description.

But imho the descriptions also fall short of explaining how well these fulfill their purpose. For me, Oxo has elegantly imposed organization in a space that seemed to defy the possibility.
